2005 Monthly Letter
Dear Partner In Ministry,
“And
a poor widow came, and put in two copper coins, which make
a penny. Jesus
said "This poor widow has put in more than all those
who are contributing.’” Mark 12:42
Bigger
seems to be better. Numbers measure importance. This
is what the world tells us by its standards. Sadly, the church
often says the same. We Christians play the numbers game.
Interestingly,
80% of all church membership is 250 or less. If bigger IS
better, what does this say to the 80%ers?
Here
is a letter I received from a man from a small membership
church in Ohio.
"Thank
you for coming to our small congregation. God made a big effect
on my wife and me.
Because
of the seeds you planted, my wife has resumed attending our
worship service. She quit because we changed the time from
9:30 to 10:30. Not only that, but she also now attends Sunday
School and a women's bible study. GOD DOES ANSWER PRAYERS
!!!
Also,
as a result of the Saturday night couples’ dinner, I learned
she wanted us to spend more time together. I had been under
the impression that she preferred not having me “in the way.”
After talking about it, I offered to take one weekend a month
off work to do whatever she wanted. Needless to say, she took
me up on the offer!
Again,
I just want to say thanks and let you know that I pray for
you and your ministry almost every night."
Your
investment in UpBuilding Ministries has built up the worship
attendance, Sunday School and women’s Bible study by ONE
! It has also blessed ONE marriage relationship. I believe
Jesus is pleased.How
about you?
Thank
you for allowing me the privilege of ministering to some of
the smaller-80%ers-churches rather than only to larger ones!
