April
2006 Monthly Letter
Dear
Partners in Pediatrics!
"And
they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching…"
Acts 2:42 The "they" refers to the about 3000 new believers
in Jerusalem who had responded to Peter's message of salvation
in Jesus the Messiah. Acts 2:40
Those
of you who knew me in my days as Minister of Evangelism in
Cincinnati realized my keen awareness of the need to establish
a means of following-up those who prayed to receive
Christ through our home visitation ministry. And a specific
plan of action quickly emerged.
With
the recent trend of so many people responding to an invitation
to receive Christ during an UpBuilding Weekend, this need
remains. The following is from a letter I just received from
a pastor. He witnessed nineteen members of the congregation
he serves indicate a commitment to Christ and wrote this
letter to each of them:
"I
am still basking in the glow from this past weekend. What
a wonderful time in the life of our congregation! I am now
looking forward to talking with each of you further
about how God spoke to you through Ron's message. He asked
me to share with you John 1:12-13. It is an excellent summation
of what happened to you when you prayed to receive Jesus Christ.
'Yet to all who received Him, to those who believe in His
name, He gave the right to become children of God! Children
born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's
will but born of God.' Let me encourage you to write in the
margin in your Bible next to these marvelous verses and great
revelation: My Spiritual birthday-March 5, 2006!
That
Sunday morning you were born of God or born of His Spirit.
I will talk more about this in a follow-up sermon I
will preach as a follow-up to your March 5th birthday! It
will be about Nicodemus and his conversation with Jesus about
being "born again!" I will also be phoning each of
you individually. Please be patient with me, 19 people raised
their hands so there
are many calls to make.
I have begun the process and thoroughly enjoy hearing
your unique and individual stories! Our Lord certainly works
in mysterious and wondrous ways! For some this was indeed
a first time commitment; for others a recommitment; for a
few a time of needed assurance; and for ALL a blessed time
to discuss our personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
--- Pastor John
So
fellow Partners in Pediatrics, I wanted you to know
that your spiritual babies are doing well. Thank you for your
participation as "midwives" in this Ministry. I appreciate
your support.
