2 Timothy 2:2 “What you have heard from me before many
witnesses entrust to faithful others who will be able to
teach others also.”
Sherry
is the Director of Christian Ed. at her church in North Carolina.
Audrey is a young mother who has a spiritually precocious
8 year old daughter, Libbi. Two weeks prior to the Weekend,
Libbi began to ask her mother questions about Jesus. Audrey
brought Libbi to Sherry for the answers! This visit culminated
with Sherry leading Libbi to pray to receive Jesus as her
personal Savior
After
the UpBuilding session for women, Sherry told me how impacted
she was by the teaching on using Bible passages in our prayers.
She stated, “I want to incorporate this way of praying
in our Sunday school classes.”
On Sunday I spoke to both the children and adults about praying
Scripture for people in need, modeling how to do it, and giving
opportunity to put the teaching into practice.
At the end of the service, I was led to go over to where Sherry,
Audrey, and Libbi were. Audrey, who is pregnant and due soon,
had slipped out of the sanctuary right before the closing
prayer time. Sherry introduced me to Audrey and Libbi and
told me the story above. Audrey apologized for missing the
closing prayer and explained that she had a rare nerve ending
disease. I suggested that we pray for her, to which all agreed.
Before
we prayed, Libbi asked Sherry if she would be willing to pray
a healing prayer for her mom using a Bible verse if Sherry
helped her. She nodded an 'okay.' With that Sherry took a
pew Bible, turned to Matthew 15:30 (“Crowds came to Jesus,
bringing with them those who were ill...and Jesus healed them.")
She asked Libbi to read it out loud. Then Sherry led Libbi
to pray that verse in a paraphrased way asking Jesus to heal
her mom! We were all touched and saw the Holy Spirit make
2 Timothy 2:2 come alive!
Partner,
imagine the number of youth and adults who will
be impacted as the Holy Spirit works through the ministry
of Sherry impacting them and they in turn impact others!
Thank you for the impact you are making through your prayers
and financial support.
